This Night Sucks! New Release with Exclusive Excerpt

About the Book:

Lana is a high school senior enrolled in Vampire Education – a class to teach students about the very real presence of vampires in the world. Lana and her classmates don’t really expect to meet up with any undead bloodsuckers. Vampires are a lot like other scary things that supposedly exist but you hope you’ll never come across: nudist colonies, mad cow disease, and your parents’ sex life.

What is part of Lana’s everyday reality is navigating through one last year of high school while desperately trying to be less nerdy. She still loves spaceships, fantasy novels, and cat stickers, but she also recently got her braces removed, grew boobs, and is working on the makeup thing. She never expected her crush-of-a-lifetime Pete to even notice her – let alone ask her out on a date.

The date is going great until Pete’s ex-girlfriend Katy shows up, all bloody and pissed off. Lana quickly realizes that Katy is not just her ordinary bitchy self – she has been turned into a vampire. After a near death experience, Lana learns that she is changing into a vampire too.

Lana needs answers, and the only way to get them is to find the vampire who started the chain of events – and to find him before sunrise…

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:

“I know who Lana would go with if he asked her,” Sven says slyly.

“Shut up,” I tell him.

“Oooh, yeah. I think I know who you’re talking about,” Claire says.

“You’d probably go out and buy a slutty dress the same day if Pete Douglas asked you to prom,” Sven teases.

Pete Douglas. I saw him my very first day of high school: perfectly messy brown hair, plaid button-up shirt. I asked him if he knew where room 312 was and he didn’t hear me and walked off in the opposite direction. I would see him almost every day in the cafeteria, back when I used to eat there with my former friends – he had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every single day. It’s one of the things I miss most about no longer eating in the cafeteria: being able to watch Pete eat. He had the most perfect combination of nibble-chew I have ever seen. I would also see him alone in the library sometimes. He’d usually be doing Chemistry homework. Senior Chemistry homework. I don’t even take Chemistry anymore.

I’ve never been the type to use the word dreamy, but for Pete it totally applies. I can’t even place why I find him so attractive – I just feel a magnetic pull towards him and his stupid, messy, sexy hair. There’s just a long list of major problems: he is super gorgeous, popular, he doesn’t even know who I am, and he’s in a committed relationship with a hot girl named Katy.

“I would not go to prom with Pete,” I lie. “He’s dating Katy, anyway. They’ve been a couple since their freshman year, obviously they’re going to prom together.”

“Yeah, but if they broke up and he needed a rebound prom date and he asked you: would you go?” Claire asks.

“No,” I tell them. “Prom is lame no matter who you go with.”
